Prospective high school students can visit their neighborhood high school, alternative high school or a focus option school at information sessions being held district wide October through February. This is a great opportunity for students to tour their future high school and learn more about the academic and athletic programs offered. See 8th Grade Information Nights 2017-18.

PPS students either attend their neighborhood high school or may apply to attend focus-option schools Benson Polytechnic or Jefferson HS-Middle College for Advanced Studies. Families may also apply to the Metropolitan Learning Center (MLC), an alternative high school. Applications for Benson, Jefferson and MLC are accepted during the Nov. 13-Dec. 1 lottery cycle. This year's high school lottery deadline is earlier than in previous years.

All Jefferson area eighth graders need to choose Jefferson or their assigned comprehensive high school by Dec. 8. Contact your eighth-grade counselor for more information or download a dual assignment form and learn more at www.pps.net/schoolchoice

For students who can’t attend an information night, some schools offer tours or the opportunity to shadow a student. Students should call the school they are interested in or go online for the school’s policies.
