Winterhaven Yearbooks – It’s time to pre-order a yearbook for your student/s. The price is currently $15.00 until March 23, after which the price increases to $17.00. Please pay by check in the office (made out to Winterhaven School) or pay online using the SchoolPay form.
Lost and Found – As the academic quarter ends, please remember to check the Lost and Found for any belongings your family may be missing. Soon these items will be bagged up and donated to charity. This area is kept neat and orderly by Rebekah Folsom (she even washes out plastic lunch containers that are left over), so be sure to give her a big thanks when you see her.
Lottery Informational meetings for prospective students for the 2017-18 school year are on Feb. 8 @ 5:30 pm, Feb. 15 @ 3:30 pm, and March 1 @ 5:30 pm. If you plan to enroll siblings for the 2017-18 school year, you do not need to come to the informational meetings, but you do need to complete a Statement of Understanding (available in the office starting Feb. 8) and the PPS Enrollment and Transfer Lottery Application (available online Feb. 8). In order to receive sibling preference, you must have a child currently attending Winterhaven this year who will be also attending next year. If you have questions, please check with the main office.
Parents of 8th Graders - Every 8th grade student (except our lone future Lincoln Cardinal) should have their forecasting sheet for you to sign. Forecasting sheets determine the classes the students take at their schools next year. Please take the time to sit down with your student and talk about the choices available and go over their form. Each school has a form as well as a booklet or additional paper that explains the choices. Cliff Shaw has more if things get lost, and parents can also look at each school's website. If you are curious or have any doubt about what school's area your home is in, please verify on the PPS Interactive District Map.
Franklin's Open House has been rescheduled for February 1st from 6:15 – 8 pm, at the Marshall Campus located at 3905 SE 91st Avenue. You are welcome to get those forms to me or take it by there if you are heading their way.
Benson's Shadow Day - If your student is interested in going to Benson's Shadow Day, please return their permission slip to Cliff Shaw.
Jefferson High School – Middle College for Advanced Studies meeting Feb 2nd from 6:30 – 8 pm at 5210 N. Kirby Avenue. -If you are in the Jefferson neighborhood, Cliff Shaw will be sending home a paper requesting that your family declares whether you intend to go to Jefferson or your other neighborhood high school (Grant, Madison or Roosevelt). This choice is relatively binding; please take your time deciding. Jefferson's neighborhood overlaps the others and families in that area have a choice of schools.
