2/12 - PTSA Community Meeting special election

Dear Community -

Our 2/12 Community Meeting will include a special election for vacancies on the PTSA board.

Nicole King, our previous Winterhaven PTSA board President, and Margo Dobbertin, our previous Fundraising Chair, have both resigned within the past three months. THANK YOU VERY MUCH to both Nicole and Margo for your service!

These vacancies must be filled by community vote and, per our Local Unit PTA Bylaws, we are providing 14-day notice prior to our next Community Meeting. There was an Interim President vote at our 11/14/2017 Community Meeting, but, given the timing of Nicole's resignation, we were unable to provide adequate procedural notice.

Additionally, we have an opening for Vice President on the board. Currently that role is being performed by Tam Boleyn, our Communications Chair, but, per the Bylaws, no Chair should perform more than one role.

Fundraising Chair is an exceptionally demanding role that cannot be left unfilled and requires significant ramp-up. Several board members have offered a creative solution by moving into different roles (for instance, our former 2016-17 Fundraising Chair has offered to return) in order to keep PTSA business moving forward for the remainder of the 2017-18 year. These proposed changes must also be brought to the community for a vote.

The following Chair nominations will be brought to vote at the 2/12 meeting:

Vacancies for elections
President (vacated)
Vice President
Fundraising Chair (vacated)
Volunteer Chair (moving to different role)
Communications Chair (moving to different role)
At Large (moving to different role)
